Prof Patrick Njobeh

Patrick is a full Professor at the Biotechnology and Food Technology Department of the University of Johannesburg (UJ) with research focus on fungi and mycotoxins. He has over 170 publications and successfully graduated 26 MSc, 12 PhDs and 3 Postdoctoral Research Fellows (PDRFs) and currently supervising 11 MSc, 11 PhD students and 4 PDRFs. He is a member of the Joint (FAO/WHO) Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) and a consultant of African Union Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR). He is equally a member of the International Advisory Board of the World Bank-African Center of Excellence in Mycotoxins and Food Safety (ACEMFS) hosted at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria and an International Affiliate at the Center for Water Resources (CWR), Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. His academic examinerships and other assignments extends to various universities in South Africa and beyond. He was the chair of the organizing committee of the International Conference on Food Safety and Security (FSaS) hosted at UJ in 2016 partnering with the South African Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), Agricultural Research Council (ARC) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST). Patrick is a reviewer of several scientific journals and funding bodies and has received several local and international grants of over 2 million EUR in total. Prof Njobeh has an H-index of 31 and 2737 citations (Google Scholar; Scopus H-index of 23; 1703 citations) and is a C2 NRF-Rated researcher in South Africa.
