Dr. Amare Ayalew is the Program Manager of Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa (PACA) since 2013. Prior to this, he had researched the occurrence, epidemiology, and management of aflatoxins and other mycotoxins as well as plant health for over 20 years. He has served as an Associate Professor of Plant Pathology and Head of the School of Plant Sciences; and led the Crop Protection Section and the Crop Protection Research Program at Haramaya University, Ethiopia. (2002 – 2013). He has supervised more than 50 postgraduate students and has published on mycotoxins, plant health and other challenges to agriculture with more than 50 publications including 35 peer reviewed journal articles. Dr. Ayalew holds a PhD (summa cum laude) in Plant Pathology from the University of Goettingen, Germany and obtained he’s bachelor and master’s degrees from Haramaya University, Ethiopia.
